Heavyweight is a book of poetry about the author's personal journey. With the weight of the world seemingly on his shoulders the author Gabrial Grant speaks of the every day struggle, his demons, mental health, as well as his heartaches. As you continue to embark on the poetic journey, Gabrial takes you through his darkest hours but then slowly begins to regain confidence in himself. The title Heavyweight is also metaphoric because Gabrial has struggled with his weight his entire life. From being skin and bones to having a stomach, from having a stomach to gaining muscles through weight lifting, to being called obese by his doctors and dealing with high blood pressure. Gabrial continues to carry a heavy load on his shoulders; hence the title, Heavyweight.

My love for music and poetry began at a very young age. When I was in the sixth grade my class was asked to do a Poetry Collection for a project and ever since then my love for poetry has never left. Writer's Block gives you an inside look at my personal journey as well as my growth poetically. I've created imaginary stories, discussing my own political beliefs as well as my personal trials, tribulations and success. The title Writer's Block as a few meanings behind it. The book cover is the neighborhood I grew up in with the very apartment complex in the background that I was raised in. It's also where I read my first poem. The title Writer's Block also is what I went through a few years back when I originally had the idea to work on a book but lost all of my poetry on a corrupted thumb drive. After that I was depressed and it was very hard for me to write poetry for a long time. My life has changed a lot since then and the content I write about has not only changed but evolved. Now I am here to share my gift to the world in hopes of touching the hearts, minds and souls of people of all ages, races, and generations.

Writer's Block II: Poetic Therapy is the sequel to my debut publication (Writer's Block - released August 12, 2017). Writer's Block II has a variety of poems, short stories, song lyrics and a bevy of other topics to give the reader plenty to choose from for their reading pleasure. With 100 brand new poems, this is not only the hardest I've worked on a book but instantly has become one of my favorite pieces of work to date. The poems in here will hit home, will make you cry, will make you laugh, and make you think. Stand out poems are Community Love where I dedicate a poem to shout out the LGBT community. That one will be one to tell your friends about. Whisper In the Wind (Take Notice) is a very deep and personal poem about a health scare I experienced and what I went through on that day. Exit Plan is a reality based poem with fictional characters but the message is very real as it talks about being aware of your surroundings. Single Parents will be an instant favorite in my opinion to any mother or father who is raising their children on their own without help, Single Parents is a dedication to all of you to shout you out. Now, if you like romance and suspense, check out the seven Distant Lover's poems throughout the book. Those poems are about a couple that meets each other online and fall in love. Things get interesting when a third party gets involved and true feelings are revealed.

How I feel about it is a book written by Gabrial Grant. This book is simply Gabrial giving his personal opinion on a variety of topics in the world. From murder cases, to loyalty, Gabrial Grant goes into great detail and doesn't pull any punches about what's on his mind, and how he feels about it.

Social Commentary IV: Poetic Justice digs deeper into topics such as politics, social justice issues such as police brutality, our Bill of Rights, current and past administrations and more. The goal with this book is to take some of the issues in our country and give the reader a different point of view than their own. You may not agree with every viewpoint and that's okay, that’s what makes our country so great because we have the right to agree to disagree. What we need in our country is more open dialogue; the ability to see things from the other person's perspective rather than continue to have a tunnel vision approach. If this book helps the next person understand some of our more pressing issues from a different perspective (the key word understand) then Social Commentary IV: Poetic Justice has more than served its purpose.

Colosseum: The Political Sport is a book that expresses my viewpoint of the politics and forced patriotism going on in the world of sports; particularly the National Football League. This book is written to give a fan's perspective of the issues plaguing the United States and the very reason for the National Anthem Protest.

In My Write Mind is a collection of poems created over a period of time in my life where I would say was the most vulnerable, social conscience and in the midst of unprecedented times in the history of the world. This book is a year in the making. Originally this book was intended to be called #InMyWriteMind and it was supposed to be an accumulation of my best work mixed in with some new poems; sort of like a greatest hits type of book. I was thinking this was going to be my last poetry book originally until 2020 happened. The year 2020 saw many unthinkable events, and tragedies that are still hard to fathom. In My Write Mind will take you on my journey and let you feel how I saw things from my point of view. How I was affected by everything that I experienced, saw, heard, how I rationalize different events in my life. My personal struggle not withstanding, 2020 has been a memorable year full of sadness, understanding, awakening, confusion, stress all across the world. What In My Write Mind did for me is it was my own personal therapy session to assist me with getting through a very trying year.
